Make Your Own Delicious Dairy Free Chocolate

Make your own chocolate

This Easter, why not ditch the usual junky easter eggs and celebrate by making your own all natural, delicious and dairy free chocolate. It's easier than you might think and, by making your own you are in complete control over the ingredients to ensure you get maximum flavour, maximum health benefits and minimum remorse.

There are numerous benefits to consuming chocolate regularly. For those who missed it, click here to read my blog on why you can, and should eat chocolate every day.

Meanwhile, here's the delicious recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Take 1 tbsp of raw cacao

  • half a cup of coconut milk

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil or macadamia oil

  • Option: For the sweetener, add 2 tsp of stevia, honey or maple syrup. Personally, I like it without the sweetener.

  • Optional: 1 punnet of fresh raspberries or blueberries

Directions:

  • Line a plastic container with some baking paper - this helps removing the chocolate later.

  • If using the berries, lay them out across the bottom of the container now. Be sure to spread them evenly.

  • Place a pan of water over a medium heat and bring to the boil.

  • Once boiling, add a bowl to the boiling water - very carefully.

  • Take the oil and cacao and mix together in the heated bowl until melted. Keep stirring to avoid burning.

  • Once you have a melted chocolate mixture, add the coconut cream and stir well. Carefully taste the mixture to see if you need to add the sweetener.

  • If needed, add the sweetener now and remove from the heat while continuing to stir.

  • Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the container, if using berries, be sure to cover them evenly.

  • Place in the fridge for 1hour to set. If not using berries, you could place in the freezer to set more quickly.

  • Enjoy with a cup of green or white tea. Share with friends if you are feeling generous.

  • Note: this chocolate is highly energising. Consume earlier in the day.

Until next time, stay deliciously healthy.
